Pre-Procedure Information

All permanent cosmetic procedures are multi-session processes. You are required to return for at least one touchup before it can be determined that your process is complete. Touchup visits are typically scheduled at one-month intervals.

Be prepared for the color intensity of your procedure to be significantly sharper, brighter and darker immediately following the procedure than the expected final result. It will take time for this transition, based upon how quickly your skin exfoliates and heals.

The major difference between conventional cosmetic makeup and permanent makeup through cosmetic tattooing is the fact that the tattoo pigment lies under the skin, not on top of the skin. The final color that results from permanent makeup is a combination of your skin tone and the color selected. During the consultation, together we will assess your skin tone and select a complimentary pigment.

Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may swell slightly or redden, some clients avoid social plans for a day or two following any procedure.

Bring your favorite lipstick and brow pencil to the office on the day of the procedure.

Any tweezing or waxing should be performed at least 72 hours prior to the procedure. Electrolysis must be performed at least 5 days prior to the procedure. Do not resume any method of hair removal for at least 2 weeks.

Any eyelash or eyebrow tinting or eyelash curling should be done no sooner than 72 hours before or 2 weeks after the procedure.

Do NOT wear contact lenses during or immediately following the eyeliner procedure. Remember to bring your glasses. You may resume wearing your contact lenses as soon as you eyes return to their pre-tattooed condition.

If you are having a lip procedure and have ANY HISTORY of cold sores/fever blisters/herpes simplex, you MUST contact your dentist or physician to obtain the proper oral prescription medication prior to the procedure in order to prevent such outbreaks.

Refrain from the use of alcohol, aspirin, aspirin-containing medications, Ibuprofen or blood thinners, UNLESS MEDICALLY NEEDED, for 48 hours prior to any procedure. Refrain from judgment-altering drugs for at least 24 hours prior to any procedure. NO MEDICATION SHOULD BE DISCONTINUED, EVEN TEMPORARILY, WITHOUT FIRST CONSULTING YOUR PHYSICIAN.

A patch test is offered upon request.

General After Care Instructions

Proper care following your procedure is essential to achieving the best results. Keep in mind that in many cases, unevenness of color is to be expected. This is the purpose of touchup visits. Please review the following directions and refer to them as necessary. If during your healing process you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 314-707-1553.

Ice packs protected with a cloth may be applied as necessary to reduce swelling. Apply once per hour for 10 minutes or less as needed to reduce swelling. Sleeping slightly elevated helps alleviate swelling sometimes seen the morning following facial procedures.

Wash your hands before touching any treated area. Cotton-tipped applicators may be used to gently cleanse the eye area. Do not expose areas to dirty or unsanitary conditions. Wearing glasses outdoors is a good way to protect new eyeliner from dust, etc. that can stick to healing agents. Apply healing agents sparingly.

Some itching is normal. DO NOT PICK, PEEL OR SCRATCH the treated area or your color may heal unevenly and you risk scarring and infection.

No makeup is to be applied for 72 hours following the procedure. After any eyeliner procedure, use new mascara. Do not use an eyelash curler for two weeks.

Do not expose your healing skin to direct sun, tanning beds, hot tubs, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools, direct shower spray, hot water, skin creams, ointments or lotions other than what you have been instructed to use for 2 weeks following your procedure.

After a lip procedure, keep your lips moist at all times. Avoid spicy or salty foods or heat. If using herpes medication, continue as prescribed.

Long Term Care

Use a good sunscreen daily - even the lips require protection. Sun exposure will fade your permanent cosmetics and may cause irritation, even years later.

If you are planning a chemical peel, MRI or other medical procedure, please inform your physician of your cosmetic tattoo.

If you donate blood, it is an American Red Cross policy that you must wait one year after any tattooing procedure.

After Care Instructions for Eyeliner

Apply a light coat of Vaseline with a cotton-tipped applicator first thing in the AM and before washing your face. Apply a light coat in the PM and wipe off excess with a damp cloth. Continue this process for 4 days.

Do not scratch, rub, pick at or put your fingers or anything else in your eyes following eyeliner procedure. This is to avoid scratching your eyes. Please let any residual pigment come off naturally.

For your safety, it is recommended that you have a driver accompany you for eyeliner applications.

Do not use an eyelash curler for 2 weeks following procedure.

You can wear mascara on the tips of your lashes if you purchase a new tube.

You can expect 30 - 50% fading following the first application. DO NOT BE ALARMED. This is part of the tattooing process.

Other than mascara on the tips of your lashes, do not wear any other makeup on the procedure area while you are using the Vaseline.

After Care Instructions for Eyebrows

Apply a light coat of Vaseline with a cotton-tipped applicator in a back-and-forth motion, covering the length of the eyebrow approximately 4 times. Be sure to wipe off excess Vaseline (brows should not be shiny). Continue this process for 4 days.

Immediately following the procedure your eyebrows may appear too dark, too thick and "drawn in." This is to be expected. It is only after the healing process that you will be able to appreciate the subtle color and softness of your eyebrows.

You will experience dryness of your eyebrows. DO NOT FORCE PEEL YOUR EYEBROWS WHEN THEY START TO PEEL.

Please wait at least 2 weeks after the healing is complete before getting your eyebrows waxed.

You can expect 30 - 50% fading following the first application. DO NOT BE ALARMED. This is part of the tattooing process. Do not wear makeup on your eyebrows while you are using the Vaseline.

After Care Instructions for Lips

Apply A&D ointment to your lips to lips throughout the day, whenever your lips feel dry. You will experience dryness of your lips, similar to chapped lips. DO NOT FORCE PEEL YOUR LIPS WHEN THEY BEGIN TO EXFOLIATE.

You can expect 30 - 50% fading following the first application. DO NOT BE ALARMED. This is part of the tattooing process. The lips heal in 3 phases: too bright, too light, and then the color returns!

Swelling is normal following any procedure, and is especially common with the lips. Apply an ice pack wrapped in a protective cloth to the lips once per hour for 10 minutes or less as needed to reduce swelling.

In order to maintain your color, you must use sunblock on the tattooed area.

If you have a history of cold sores/fever blisters/herpes simplex, you must begin prescription medication prior to the procedure and continue the medication as prescribed following the procedure.
